Marfret has just reached a key milestone in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) journey. For its very first CSR assessment conducted by EcoVadis, the company earned the bronze medal – a highly positive result for a first evaluation, placing Marfret above 77% of companies assessed worldwide.
A global reference in CSR evaluation, EcoVadis bases its analysis on 21 criteria grouped into four main themes: environment, social and human rights, ethics, and responsible procurement. Today, more than 130,000 companies worldwide are rated according to this rigorous methodology, aligned with international standards such as the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, GRI standards, and ISO 26000.
For Marfret, this bronze medal represents an important milestone in its CSR journey. Like the Blue Charter Trophy from Armateurs de France, which previously recognized its efforts to reduce ecological impact, it confirms the relevance of concrete actions already implemented: installation of sail-assist propulsion systems on some vessels, development of JITA (Just In Time Arrival) solutions to optimize port calls, and the use of weather routing to reduce fuel consumption.
The EcoVadis evaluation results reflect these efforts: Marfret scored 72/100 in the environment category, confirming the strength of its initiatives in energy transition and ecological footprint reduction. The company also stands out in social and human rights, with a score of 72/100, demonstrating a strong commitment to providing respectful working conditions, promoting diversity, and ensuring fundamental rights are upheld.
These strengths originate from the CSR roadmap developed during the 2024-2025 Corporate Convention for Climate (CEC), in which Marfret participated. This strategic support program helped structure its CSR roadmap and define clear ambitions. The EcoVadis evaluation now offers a concrete first assessment, providing both an objective view of its strengths and a clear vision of areas for improvement.
This medal acknowledges the progress made while giving the company renewed momentum to deepen its practices in the years ahead. Beyond the recognition it brings, it acts as an additional driver for embedding Marfret in a virtuous circle that supports environmentally responsible maritime transport.
