Marfret, at the heart of exchange

Fascinating activity, maritime transportation demands deep involvement from its stakeholders and daily decision-making. Each participant in the transportation chain, from the captain to the shipping agent and handler, has a role to play in staying on course and steering the company safely to port despite storms.

With the globalization of the economy, maritime trade is booming thanks to containerization, port modernization, and regular shipping routes.

While major shipping companies use increasingly large vessels, leading them to focus on major ports and then rely on feeders to transship goods, Marfret, on the other hand, prioritizes direct calls to ensure the best service: security and timeliness.

Extremely well-positioned on major North/South maritime routes, Marfret has patiently built its regular line routes with broad global coverage and over 80 ports of call.

With its containers, Marfret provides an integrated and multimodal end-to-end service.

Marseille Fret, the company’s original entity, guarantees a very high level of reliability for the vessels operated by Marfret.

Shaped by a culture of openness and adventure, the company has always seized development opportunities, like its original activity of “tramping,” which involves picking up abandoned cargoes.

In the era of globalization, Marfret proves that it is possible to build common solutions with ports, port communities, and shippers.

Marfret awarded a medal at the ESG Shipping Awards 2026

On Friday 15 May, Céline Douvenou, Marfret's CSR Manager, and Véronique Passarelli, Director of Operations, were in Athens for the ESG Shipping Awards 2026 ceremony, an international benchmark for sustainability in the maritime sector. These awards evaluate shipping companies from around the world based on rigorous environmental, social responsibility, and governance criteria. Marfret took home the bronze medal, recognising an environmental approach that is both ambitious and pragmatic: a reduction in CO₂ emissions of more than 10% over three years, eco-speed sailing across the entire fleet, rigid sails on the Niolon harnessing the trade winds on the Guiana–West Indies route, delivery of the methanol-compatible Durande, and deployment of the REPCET system for cetacean protection. Concrete actions that reflect Marfret's core belief: environmental performance and operational reliability go hand in hand.
