The Marfret Niolon ro-ro, deployed on the multipurpose line connecting Northern Europe to the French Antilles via French Guiana, will begin a seven-week technical stop at the Remontowa Shipyard in Poland at the end of January. This dry-dock period represents a strategic investment for Marfret to maintain the vessel in peak operational condition.
The ro-ro has already undergone an upgrade with the addition of aluminum sails and a digital twin, allowing its route to be adapted to weather conditions.
At thirty-five years old, it remains fully operational and has performed particularly well in recent months on the rotation.
Given the commercial development of the line, the Marfret Niolon is irreplaceable on the MPP service. With a 6-meter garage height, a ramp capable of supporting up to 180 tons evenly distributed, and 1,212 linear meters of cargo space, it is the ideal vessel for transporting rolling equipment and heavy cargo, including sensitive ArianeGroup shipments.
Faced with the absence of an equivalent on the charter market, Marfret has chosen to extend the operation of the Marfret Niolon, while initiating preliminary studies for the construction of a replacement vessel within three years.
