Costa Rica is preparing to assume a strategic position in Central American trade with huge investment underway at the port of Moin. APM Terminals is completing the construction of a container terminal on the Limon headland, with commissioning announced for February, 2019.<\/p>\n

From next year, the port of Moin will be taking on another dimension with the commissioning of its XXL terminal. Six gantry cranes will ensure a smooth flow of containers, with a cadence of 30 moves per hour announced. The cranes will be able to work in all weathers, thanks to a sea wall built to protect the ships at berth during the windy season. This will allow Marfret to increase the reliability of transit times on its Mediterranean-Caribbean service.<\/p>\n
With a presence in Costa Rica for many years, thanks to its MedCar line, the company retains a privileged and personal relationship with its customers. Containers are stored and maintained in the immediate vicinity of the port. It is divided into two zones: one in a free zone, another larger equipped with 800 reefer plugs. More-than-adequate staff numbers and dust-free depots ensure the containers of fresh fruit receive top-quality service.<\/p>\n
The close location of these depots will mean punctuality will be maintained in pre- and onward-carriage to and from the new terminal, a major advantage for exporters and importers in a changing industrial world.<\/p>\n
