Marfret has just signed the order for a new ro-ro vessel that will replace the Marfret Niolon on the MPP route, connecting Northern Europe to the French West Indies and French Guiana.<\/p>\n\n
Designed in collaboration with the Chinese design firm SDARI, which had already created the design for the Ferrymar, this new ro-ro ship has been conceived to handle the transport of rolling cargo and conventional goods to overseas territories. Measuring 130 metres in length, it features two independent shaft lines with variable-pitch propellers and an 800 kW bow thruster, ensuring optimal manoeuvrability during docking. Its ramp, wider than usual standards, guarantees reliable berthing in all conditions. On the environmental front, its design incorporates the latest energy efficiency requirements from the outset, with an EEDI rating compliant with the strictest international Phase 3 standards to date, resulting in fuel consumption cut in half compared to the current vessel.<\/p>\n\n
